Monday, April 12, 2004 -- Day 12

I started my day at the usual time and put in my 25 minutes of cardio. For the past couple of weeks, while I’m doing my cardio, I’ve been listening to Survivor’s Greatest Hits CD which has two of the theme songs from the Rocky movies. When I start to get tired and think I can’t go on, I think about these lyrics in one of the songs “In the warrior’s code there’s no surrender though his body says stop his spirit cries never...victory is yours alone.” Those words are enough to push me further. It’s a great feeling when you finish something where most will quit. For the remainder of my gym time I spent 50 minutes working out my chest.

  • Meal #46 – 0758 hrs: Hot Cakes & Sausage [780 cal., 15 g. protein, 104 g. carbs, 33 g. total fat], Sausage, Egg & Cheese McGriddle [550 cal., 20 g. protein, 43 g. carbs, 33 g. total fat], Scrambled Eggs [160 cal., 13 g. protein, 1 g. carbs, 11 g. total fat] and a small Black Coffee.

At 11:00 am I was interviewed by Channel 3, a local cable station in Orange County, that will air Wednesday at 7:00 pm. The interview took place at the McDonald’s in South Coast Plaza while I was eating Meal #47.

  • Meal #47 - 1104 hrs: Quarter Pounder with Cheese [540 cal., 29 g. protein, 39 g. carbs, 29 g. total fat], Filet-O-Fish [410 cal., 15 g. protein, 41 g. carbs, 20 g. total fat], Small Fries [210 cal., 3 g. protein, 26 g. carbs, 10 g. total fat] and a Diet Coke.

At 2:40 I was interviewed by one of St. Louis’ largest radio stations, 97.1 The Dave Glover Show. And shortly thereafter I started receiving emails from listeners that were excited about the simplistic information regarding health and fitness that I was passing on. One listener in particular, a woman approaching 40 years old, who wants to lose another 40 pounds. She was fed up with all the diet and exercise information she had been receiving and was thrilled with the easy to understand approach to health and fitness that I was speaking of. This is the reason why we started Truth in Fitness, a non-profit corporation, in order to help individuals like her. In the next few weeks we will be posting information on how an individual can achieve his or her personal goals regarding health and fitness.

  • Meal #48 – 1503 hrs: McChicken Sandwich [430 cal., 14 g. protein, 41 g. carbs, 23 g. total fat], Double Cheeseburger [480 cal., 25 g. protein, 37 g. carbs, 27 g. total fat], Baked Apple Pie [260 cal., 3 g. protein, 34 g. carbs, 13 g. total fat] and a Diet Coke.

At 5:30 pm I went to the gym in Aliso Viejo to coach my friend with his continued weight loss.

  • Meal #49 – 1948 hrs: Chicken McNuggets (10 piece) [510 cal., 25 g. protein, 30 g. carbs, 33 g. total fat], California Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken [280 cal., 30 g. protein, 11 g. carbs, 14 g. total fat] and a small Diet Coke.
  • Meal #49.1 – 2100 hrs: M&M McFlurry (12 oz) [630 cal., 16 g. protein, 90 g. carbs, 23 g. total fat]

Additional Comments: For the past few day’s I’ve upped my calories to compensate for the few pounds that I’ve lost. However, next week I’ll start reducing my daily number of calories because at this calorie level I will start to accumulate fat on my body.

Tuesday, April 13, 2004 -- Day 13

I got up at my normal time and was at the gym by 6:00 for 30 minutes of cardio on the Life Cycle.

  • Meal #50 – 0713 hrs: Hotcakes & Sausage [780 cal., 15 g. protein, 104 g. carbs, 33 g. total fat], Sausage McGriddle [420 cal., 11 g. protein, 42 g. carbs, 23 g. total fat], Scrambled Eggs (2 orders) [320 cal., 26 g. protein, 2 g. carbs, 22 g. total fat] and a Large Black Coffee [0 Cal.].
  • Meal #50.1 - 1001 hrs: Fruit ‘n Yogurt Parfait [380 cal., 10 g. protein, 76 g. carbs, 5 g. total fat] and a Small Black Coffee.

At 11:00 the film crew and I went back to the gym for filming. By accommodating the film crew it took a little longer than normal, an hour and fifteen minutes, to work my legs. It appears that the training footage will look great in the documentary in that it will show a real workout and not something dressed up to be shown on ESPN.

  • Meal #51 – 1232 hrs: 2 Cheeseburgers [660 cal., 30 g. protein, 70 g. carbs, 28 g. total fat], Bacon Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken [270 cal., 28 g. protein, 11 g. carbs, 13 g. total fat] and a Diet Coke.
  • Meal #52 – 1626 hrs: Whole Wheat Grilled Chicken Sandwich [320 cal., 25 g. protein, 42 g. carbs, 6 g. total fat] and a Snack Size Fruit ‘n Yogurt Parfait [160 cal., 4 g. protein, 30 g. carbs, 2 g. total fat].
  • Meal #53 – 1909 hrs: Double Cheeseburger [480 cal., 25 g. protein, 37 g. carbs, 27 g. total fat], McVeggie Burger [360 cal., 22 g. protein, 49 g. carbs, 8 g. total fat], Small French Fries [210 cal., 3 g. protein, 26 g. carbs, 10 g. total fat] and a Diet Coke.

Additional Comments: I had family and friends meet me at McDonald’s in South Coast Plaza to join me for dinner and celebrate receiving the final approval for the company I work with, RCS Merchant Solutions, LLC. This approval will allow further growth for RCS. Everyone had a great time and surprising enough the one’s that were skeptical about McDonald’s food actually enjoyed it.

Wednesday, April 14, 2004 -- Day 14

I was really tired this morning. It was hard to get out of bed. But I finally rolled out at 5:15 making my way to the gym to get in my 25 minutes of cardio because we were filming at the gym again today.

The film crew arrived at the gym before I did. They were talking to several employee’s who thought I was around 30 years old and were blown away when they found out that I was 48. I got over to the gym at around 11:15 and spent an hour training Back.

Thursday, April 15, 2004 -- Day 15

It’s Tax Day! I put it off until today. But before I get into that.....I got out of bed and in the gym for my morning cardio. I spent 30 minutes on the Life Cycle.

  • Meal #59 – 0712 hrs: Hotcakes & Sausage [780 cal., 15 g. protein, 104 g. carbs, 33 g. total fat], Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddle [450 cal., 19 g. protein, 43 g. carbs, 23 g. total fat], Scrambled Eggs [160 cal., 13 g. protein, 1 g. carbs, 11 g. total fat] and a Large Black Coffee [0 Cal.].
  • Meal #60 – 1116 hrs: Double Cheeseburger [480 cal., 25 g. protein, 37 g. carbs, 27 g. total fat], Small French Fries [210 cal., 3 g. protein, 26 g. carbs, 10 g. total fat], Bacon Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken [270 cal., 28 g. protein, 11 g. carbs, 13 g. total fat] and a Small Diet Coke.
  • Meal #61 – 1431 hrs: Chicken McNuggets (6 piece) [310 cal., 15 g. protein, 18 g. carbs, 20 g. total fat], Snack Size Fruit ‘n Yogurt Parfait [160 cal., 4 g. protein, 30 g. carbs, 2 g. total fat] and a Small Diet Coke.

At 3:30 I went back to the gym to work out Legs for 45 minutes before embarking on my tax returns. After such a hectic morning at the office I was really surprised to see that my strength and energy levels were consistent throughout my workout. And after I was done I went back to the office.

  • Meal #62 – 2000 hrs: Double Cheeseburger [480 cal., 25 g. protein, 37 g. carbs, 27 g. total fat] and a cup of water.

Additional Comments: It wound up to be a late night because of having to finish my taxes. I tried to go to McDonald’s at 8:00 by my office and found out that this one didn’t take credit cards. I scrounged around for some change and found enough for a Double Cheeseburger off the $1 Menu and a cup of water. I finally finished my taxes at 10:30 and had to then locate a post office that was open late. After dropping off my taxes I was still hungry but alas, no McDonald’s was open! I was doomed to starve throughout the night.

I had little sleep because I was communicating with the guy’s in order to get the new website up. More on that tomorrow.

Oh.....and only five day’s until Las Vegas!!!!
